Fuck yeah, feminists!: “My Ancestors were Slaves Too” ›

The above statement seems to be one of the favorite sayings of the racist. Let’s take a closer look at what it really meant to be a “Slave.”

Roman Slaves:

  • Slaves were clothed and fed well, often better than poor free Romans
  • “Some” slave owners…

Why don’t people use the time argument? People of African descent can trace back slavery MUCH closer in their family tree than anyone from supposed greek, roman, jewish slavery could. Can people even go back their far with PURE PROOF that they’re related to a roman slave? Sounds pretty damn difficult (and therefore irrelevant as an argument) to me.

yes!!!

everyone google chattle slavery - this is the type Africans went through with the transatlantic slave trade. Honestly it seems like the Greek form of slavery has some Chattle slavery qualities to it, however Greek slaves could be freed easier than African slaves could. And it wasn’t race based (so the social hierarchies didn’t stay around when slavery ended in Greece) , and it wasn’t 400 years O_O so yeah.
